Le Big Mac: Gettin’ Infographic

The Big Mac is known worldwide and is often used as a symbol of American capitalism. The Economist has used it as a reference point to determine the cost of living in different countries — the Big Mac Index — as it is so widely available and is comparable across markets.

My mouth is watering just thinking about how juicy the currency moves & implied inflation are going to be this year. Aside from sharing the infograph below {which reminded me of the index}, I dusted off ye old Google to find some other potential points of interest.

Did you know?

  1. The Big Mac index has been around since 1986.
  2. There is someone selling Big Mac index data on a google spreadsheet for $10? (Afterall, Data is the new soil)
  3. The Big Mac was born in Pittsburgh & created by one of McDonald’s first franchisees, Jim Delligatti.
  4. Willard Scott was the first Ronald McDonald – he was fired for being too fat. (Ronald McDonald USA blog)
Bon Appetit.
