I’m back: Visualizing Humanity

I’m back folks. Took some time off to look at stuff like this…

What amazes me about a scene like this, is our ability to filter all of the daily noise  — all of the traffic, and pinging — all of the multitasking. And yet, we can create some semblance of order out of seemingly random chaos. And then an hour away in a car, this exists. Silence. Stillness. Serenity. And in that moment, you realize how much noise is in your life.

And what amazes me about this photo is, it’s also filtered. The filter is called clarity. It basically highlighted the yellows in the wildflowers mostly. And it made me think… those yellows, that sky — filtered or not — always existed, it’s just our ability to perceive them. The potential was always there.  In the 21st century it is the people & companies that help us to re-imagine the signal from the noise… they’ll win. And win big. And with it, new potential is coming.

Serendipitously, I checked in with the Twitter-sphere this morning & found this amazing presentation about Visualizing Humanity, via FlowingData.

Take some time, unwind this weekend, and check it out:
